This comic is a couple weeks old, but I decided to get it out of my sketchbook and up onto here before it started to grow mold. I'll have more on Friday.

Yes a wall! What a great idea. It worked so well in Berlin and the Israelis love theirs.
Other side of wall... What? There is nothing on the other side. That's crazy talk.
Happy Birthday Chuck.
There you go again...all that doom and gloom. It's not good for the digestion.
Let's just say for the sake of argument that incompetent George Bush sees the error of his ways, turns over Iraq to the competent Anwar provence, and brings our troops home. Let's also say, that the Democratic party prevails in 2008, and there is a complete change in the leadership of our country.
Then what?
Could you and your readers please offer me something I can sink my teeth into with respect to a different approach to the issue of terrorism and its threat to my way of life?
Or is it "my way of life" that you feel is the cause of terrorism in the first place?
Oh, and by the way, I'm ALSO addicted to spider solitare!
Thanks, although my birthday isn't until Wednesday.
As for a different direction, I do feel that Bush hasn't explored all of his options. He's too focused on a military solution and will be until the day he leaves office. His efforts at negotiation (on any subject, with any country in the world) have always been half-assed at best. The war on terror can't be just about killing bad people. The only way to stop the spread of radical Islam (and thus the terrorists) is a propaganda war for the hearts and minds of the people. Unfortunately, after this many years of poor decision making, which had turned the Middle East against us, I'm really afraid that we've lost that opportunity for good.
Can you offer an example of what is meant by propaganda war for the hearts and minds of terrorists and how this might translate into policy?
It would start by reducing the massive restrictions on hiring Middle Eastern immigrants into US intelligence agencies so we could have people who actually speak the local languages. With these folks in the fold, we would need to reach out to the local tribal leaders and understand what they want and need and convince them to work with us to keep the extremists out of their territory. People are turning to the extremists because they think that's the only way to get things done or reach salvation. If we can show them there's a better way and marginalize the extremists, then we reduce the terrorist threat. Then these people can take that message to their neighbors. But I think we've burned our bridges in Iraq. It's too late to start doing this now. Everyone there sees us as the problem now, not the solution.
