Thanks. As for how she responded: as you can see, she just started laughing as well, rather maniacally I might add. A laugh which only makes my boss laugh even harder.
My poker face is usually pretty good, but this incident just broke me. However, you ARE right, Mrs. Anonymous. How completely insensitive of me. The next time somebody walks into my store simply to talk gibberish at me, I will act interested and nod appreciatively and treat them like a valued customer, regardless of how funny it may strike me in the moment. Thank you for showing me the error of my ways. Perhaps you could advise me on what I SHOULD have done in this situation, so I don't behave like a buffoon in the future?
Chuck, pay Mrs. Anonymous no mind. It's obvious there was no offense felt. What could be seen as offensive is referring to someone as retarded. I do think that hasn't been considered "appropriate" when talking about someone with some type of limitation in say, OVER 10 years!!! Not to mention crazy - it just sounds ignorant.
I think I lost my point towards the end, the use of retarded sounds very ignorant. Not crazy. That's what you get for blogging and working and not revising properly.

Wow. That's a little sad. How did she take it?
(I don't know if I've said it before, but great comic.)

It's also fun to laugh at retarded people.
It's fun to laugh at anybody when they walk up to you and say something that doesn't make any sense, Debbie Downer. Thanks for being a buzz kill.
It's ESPECIALLY fun to laugh at these people right to their faces.
Those would be cool lyrics for a punk song.
"I WON'T... GO... INSANE OVER... BIRDNEST HONEYMOONS!!"

Yes, very ignorant.

I think the word retard is a fabulous word. Sometimes it is the only word that best describes a situation. It has that je ne sais quoi.
je ne sais what? C'mon- that's so gay! ;)
Is that sentence winking?
Yes I meant to say je ne gay quoi.
