I smell something else. Be extremely cautious and do some research about the industry before you hand this woman one grand.
You speak wisdom friend. I've been researching voice-over work and such for a few years now and know some people who make decent money at it. And since I don't have a grand to be throwing around, I am indeed cautious.
But wait and see how this tale unfolds in the next few weeks...
