If you keep pressing zero, on about 95% of the toll-free numbers, you will eventually get a human. If that doesn't work then press whatever number is the Spanish option. You will then get a bilingual human. Just tell he/she that you pressed the Spanish option by mistake and ask them to transfer you to a technician. Works just about every time.

It's true. When I have to call UPS (which is often), I just press zero till I get to a real person. In this instance, all the techs were tied up because apparently the DSL for the whole area was down.

It reminded me of an incident years ago when I had dial-up and it wasn't working. The tech on the phone said "could you please try to connect to the internet now" and I said "I can't, I talking to you on my only phone line" and she said "yes, but could you please try to connect to the internet now." She was unable to deviate from the script on her computer screen. :)
