True- tight economic times are never good for artists in general. But since all the rich people have pulling their money out of the stock market, they are currently looking for new things to invest in. The arts, perhaps?
There are some wealthyish folks who really like playing the benefactor. They go to a lot of theatre fundraisers and drop cash. Some do it cuz they just love theatre. Others do it just so they can tell their friends how much they donate to this company or that company, like they now own it and can take credit for the company's achievements. Either way, it makes art possible!

You will be if the economy is so bad that fewer people will be willing to come to see the theater.

Probably some highly priced paintings and arts. I never think theater as good investment.
