I've heard that the new administration has approved the use of harsh language and goosing in order to extract info from any freedom fighter that we may capture in the future. Like waterboarding or sleep deprivation, these new interrogation techniques won't pass a global litmus test either. We should just ask nicely.
I've also heard that this new administration prefers psychological coercion and tried-and-true interrogation methods like the kind that got most terrorist suspects to talk *before* they were tortured. How can we be an upright moral country if we don't use Jack Bauer techniques!? In fact, why don't we use these advanced techniques in our own prisons!? This Obama guy is just a pacifict commie pinko bastard!
Perhaps you would grace everyone with your ideas on interrogation techniques. How, exactly, would you go about extracting useful intel from these glorious freedom fighters. Do you realize that these people hate you and they don't even know you. Would you like to know why they hate you?? It's not because of anything that Bush, Rumsfeld, Rice, Cheney, or anyone else has done to them. It's not because of waterboarding, sleep deprivation, or any other form of frat hazing that you call torture. They hate you because you're not a Muslim fanatic. You do not embrace Islam. That's it, bottom line, plain and simple. And no, I'm not a right-wing Republican religious fanatic. I feel the same disgust, when a Baptist blows up an abortion clinic, as I do when Muslim whackos fly airplanes into buildings. Place the Jewish, Christian, and Islamic religions side-by-side and you will find a hell of lot more similarities than differences. I consider myself an agnostic more than anything so, therefore, in the eyes of one of these Muslim fanatics, I am the worst sort of infidel. I follow the teachings of neither Allah, Jehovah, Jesus, nor Budda, so the way they see it, I believe in nothing. Worst of the worst. As far as I'm concerned they're welcome to worship Allah or a monkey's ass for all I care. I ask for that same consideration, but won't get it. These assholes would like nothing better than to smuggle some sort of small nuke into the middle of a large U.S. city, like maybe Chicago. One of these days they might succeed, but in the meantime, let's do what we can to head it off, though I doubt we will. The "Greatest Generation" is slowly dying out. In case you didn't know, that would be the generation that stepped up to the plate and kicked the hell out of the Axis. They're being replaced with naive idiots and politicians who will continue to feed a crocodile in hopes of being eaten last, instead of sticking together and killing the damn thing because it wouldn't be politically correct and someone might be offended.
It troubles me that you call physical abuse that causes muscle failure, being kept awake for up to 11 days straight, and simulated drowning "frat hazing." It's easy to believe that torture is the only method we can use when you describe the enemy as inhuman demons from the 9th ring of hell rather than human beings. But if we must become demons to fight demons, then haven't they already won?
We are the United States. We have morals. We are better than them. We are not barbarians. We need not sell our soul in order to beat them.
You might find this article interesting: http://www.newsweek.com/id/195089 It is all about the FBI agent who got all of our actionable intelligence (including info about Jose Padilla the "shoe bomber") from an al-Qaeda agent BEFORE torture was ever brought in. It's possible, but it requires us to be good and skillfull rather than dumb and thuggish.
Also, anyone who thinks you can compare this war on stateless terror and religious fanaticism to the conventional warfare of World War II is the one being the naive idiot. The world has changed. We need to change with it to survive.
Alright, "Mr. Rogers," I'm done with you and your anonymous postings. If you want to have a real discussion and post using your real name-- like I do-- then you can comment here. But I will not allow you to continue to call me names on my own website. If you want to wage a war against brutal, intolerant assholes, then I suggest you start with yourself.
Mr Rogers, the evidence we have is pretty clear in that torture does not work. People under duress will say anything to make the pain stop, which more often than not leads to bad information. If you have to waterboard someone 183 times, then something clearly isn't working. Isn't the definition of insanity doing the same action over and over again and expecting a different result?
You want this world to be a safer place. And so do we. Torture is not going to make that happen, in spite of what the tv shows might suggest. There are better ways of extracting information. So why torture? It's really just "payback," hurting someone who has hurt us. It's no more useful than that.
You are, evidently, done with anyone, "Anonymous" or not, who doesn't agree with you or dares to challenge your idealistic "principles." This was evident in the post that you deleted. I also note that, in some of your previous postings, you stated that you welcome controversy. B...FUCKING...S. You welcome controversy like you welcome a fever blister or an infected tooth. And I don't believe that I have called you any names. Are you referring to the word "Dick?" That word has nothing to do with your genitals. I call a lot of people Dick, even when I am speaking with them face to face. When you, I, or anyone else, anonymous or not, posts on here we're posting on a public forum. In other words, if you hang it out there someone may cut it off. You want to know my name? If I give it to you, then what? Will you use harsh language or goose me? Oh, and by the way, here's another one:
Congress was briefed several times, by the CIA, on interrogation techniques being employed, including waterboarding. This includes the rock necklace-wearing, Wilma Flintstone-looking, hypocritical Nancy Pelosi. Nancy's comment today was, "Well, we were briefed on these techniques, but we didn't think that they would actually use them." Is she that much of a dumbass? Give me a break. JEEZ!!!
"Mr. Rogers," you are a bully. There are ways of arguing philosophic points without belittling people, but apparently you've never mastered those. Does this make you feel superior, to post anonymously on forums using crude language? I think that since I'm the one taking the time to post my opinions in well-researched comic strips along with my full name and info, I'm the one who gets to decide the tone of the conversation. You can either post your contrary and well-reasoned opinions politely, or you can have your posts deleted. It's that simple.
And I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I'm not a knee-jerk liberal Democrat. I'm not particularly fond of Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid either.

Like OMG Chuck, You're like such a bastard. Did you even take into consideration Rumsfeld's feelings. Like OMG. Heartless Bastard.
(comment should have been read in a sarcastic mocking tone)
(and Chuck was not the one I was mocking)

P.S. The post I deleted was a personal attack against me and had nothing to do with this comic even.
Oh it has plenty to do with your comic, Chuck.
