Tattoo Promo #3

I was way too busy last week to get anything posted, but I at least start this week off with some more tattoo work. I just finished the fourth one, which should drop Wednesday. I also completed an entire 12-page field guide for this same show in the style of a celebrity gossip magazine, which I'll post for everyone to see this week. New comic strip coming tomorrow (maybe two!)

Recent Projects, Part 2

Here's the second of the tattoo promos I'm doing for Les Liaisons Dangerous. Four more to go.

This is something I'd never done before, but that's no reason not to try. I conceived, wrote, storyboarded, and directed this video ad for the show. It dropped this week. Here's hoping it gets some chatter going. (Click the image to go to the video.)

Recent Projects

I had a comic to give you today, but I thought I'd save it til tomorrow and show you these instead:

I'm interning at Remy Bumppo Theatre Company, and one of my tasks has been internet viral marketing. Part of the plan includes releasing one of these kinds of promo images every week for the next six weeks. That tattoo is my design, based on the existing logo for the show. I photoshopped all this together AND art directed the photo shoot the picture is from. Each week, there will be a new tattoo variation and a new picture. They get more and more scandalous as the weeks go on...

Also, today is the launch of my brand new complete redesign of the BoHo Theatre Company website. I'm especially proud of this design. Check it out!

Doodles: November 17, 2009

I didn't have time to finish my comic for today, so instead I give you a couple pages of doodles from this weekend. I haven't doodled in a long long time; all my time drawing has been spent drawing for a purpose. Can you tell that I scrawled this while watching The Two Towers?

Some sketches in the meantime...

Last week was pretty hectic with my latest show opening and all, but
this week I'm endeavoring to get back on the comic bandwagon. Of course, the comic I'm working on now is pretty big (again) so it's taking me some time to draw it. I hope to have it up by Thursday. In the meantime, since we're finishing up the Panama story, here are some more sketches from my travel book. The big one is a composite of the plant drawings I made (as referenced in the last strip).

Shrine To The Virgin

I know y'all getting eager for new stuff, and I promise I'm working on it. I'm working on quite a bit at the moment. In the meantime, here's something I drew while on my trip.

A bit of freelance illustration I did for a New York theatre company's upcoming ten-minute musical about a Christian eager to be eaten by a lion so he can be a martyr and lion with no taste for Christians. The ladies are the three muses that also appear in the show.

Mistress Grez

This is a fun little cartoon I drew of one of the actresses in my current show as her character.

Some more of the freelance work that has kept me so busy. I especially like the character designs of the first and last ones. I haven't gotten to draw superheroes in forever.

A poster I whipped up real quick-like for Frank's movie that I did earlier this year. It's been to six festivals so far this year, was nominated for best horror short at the Action on Action festival, and won for best horror short at the Illinois International Film Festival.

For those curious about why there haven't been as many comics these past few weeks, it's all because of the freelance project I mentioned in my last comic.
These are three such comics I did just this morning illustrating a lesson. As you can see, it's keeping me quite busy. :)

If anyone in Chicago is looking for something to do tonight, John Hodgman is doing a free reading from his latest almanac of interesting "facts" down at Second City at 7pm. I highly recommend checking him out!

As I told Anis, reading this poetry is like reading song lyrics; you really need to hear it to do it justice. To that end, you should check out Derrick Brown, Buddy Wakefield, Andrea Gibson, and-- especially-- this clip of Anis Mojgani. If The Junkyard Ghost Revival is coming to your town, make all necessary excuses to see them!

The irony is that I don't remember what it was that so struck my interest at the time...

I designed this poster for a screenplay that Frank's been showcasing at some horror festivals. It will also be the design for his upcoming short film based on the screenplay, called "On Graves Farm," which he's making as a way to generate interest in the full length project.
